Fun Day on Run Day

So happy in the beginning :-)
Last Saturday was our first family running event: Bubble Run Dallas. There was a lot of sweat, blood, and tears! Well no blood, and maybe more tears than sweat (it's kind of hard to run on gravel with a 2 seat stroller).

Our little runner!
Kaysen had a good time and was a beast on the gravel. No turned ankles or bloody knees...thank God. She walked and ran the entire race, and did not get back into her wagon until we headed back to the car. I think we may have a serious athlete on our hands!

First meltdown
While Kristen cried a bit about the run (haha), the twins cried even more. Who would've thought that the babies would NOT like bubbles?? Any other day they go crazy over bubbles, but I guess there is a big difference between small bubbles being blown around their face, to huge bogs of foaming bubbles being basically dumped all over them. :-D

We just knew they would have tons of fun being pushed through the bubbles. However, they found them to be...well disturbing I suppose!  After hearing the babies scream and cry in fear, and getting looks of "Aww, how cute!'' mixed with, "what's wrong with those babies?" from the other runners, we decided not to take the twins through the bubbles for the rest of the run.

Trying to run, walk, push a stroller, and chase a four year-old for 3 miles was definitely a challenge, but it was a great experience. Good thing we had lots of help from our family and friends who decided to do the run with us. Even though we all got split up from each other, in the end we all finished our first run together, which was our main goal.

We're thinking about doing another run pretty soon, but we'll make sure there are no bubbles involved. :-)
